Romania between Facebook and TV

An EFOR-ARP opinion poll provides new data on social media consumption and Romanians’ trust in social networks. Here are a few conclusions:

Television remains the dominant source of information in terms of trust
Among platforms, Facebook remains dominant, while TikTok is popular among nationalists and young people in rural areas
There is a major difference between Facebook and TikTok: Facebook is good at mobilizing communities; TikTok is good at rapidly generating visibility, emotion, and penetrating new bubbles
Social media has not yet replaced the press, but the distribution of information and trust in the source of information have diverged and are heading in different directions.
