Democracy and Civil Society in Eastern Europe: Where We Come From and What Will Become of Us in These Turbulent Times.
As at the beginning of every year, EFOR released its report on the most significant recent developments. This year’s edition focused on the fate of democracy in the region and in Romania, as well as on the “battle for reality” — that is, the integrity of the information space under the pressure of authoritarian-style regimes. Our special guest was Anne Applebaum, journalist, scholar and Pulitzer Prize laureate. The event was organised in cooperation with Litera publishing house and also included a book signing for readers of the two most recent titles published in Romanian, Autocracy, Inc. and Red Famine.
