(1) So Romania threatens with veto on the EU budget if it doesn’t get more money – much more than it can spend. How smart is that? (2) How long is the EU going to subsidize its pampered farmers, pushing the price of foods up and ruining farmers elsewhere? Shouldn’t we better shift the money into interconnection projects and liberalize the market for services? (3) What’s all this hot air about using the EU budget for consolidation vs economic stimulus, etc, when out of the Union’s GDP, 48% is spent by national governments and just 1% by the EU? How much you can adjust that in order to achieve lofty goals, and ignore inefficiencies with the bulk of the rest in national capitals?
We want to live in a democratic, modern and normal country. And it’s not just the task of the Government or the politicians. We have to make government more transparent and rational, by showing that we understand what they do and react when they are wrong.
