The International Energy Transparency Index, developed by Dixi Group Ukraine, expands the range of participating countries and becomes an established practice in the region. For the first time, Romania will join the watchdog project which so far provided monitoring and recommendations for the energy sectors of Ukraine and in 2020 was scaled up to Moldova and Georgia. The project is implemented by think tank Dixi Group with partners from the participating countries, with the financial support of the European Union and Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation.
The first issue of the international index, developed in 2020, was an important benchmarking exercise that revealed the level of transparency of the energy sectors of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, as members of the Eastern Partnership which are also part of the Energy Community and have Association Agreements with the EU. The update for 2021 and the inclusion of Romania will assess the progress of national authorities in implementing energy transparency for the past year and will allow a comparison with Romania, as an EU member state. The second edition of the International Energy Transparency Index will be published in March 2022.
